~The chasm is the origin of all Winds, there the Mistkeepers channel the windflow to all around the world. The mistkeepers also has the ability to heaten up the winds with their breath, preventing constant subzero climate.
The Mistkeeper who takes care of the Northernwind chasm, Dustwings, is by far the youngest of the bunch; only about a half a million years old. He still has to learn to...well...not to neglect, or nap during, his job. All the times he has spent thousands of years fishing and relaxing around the equator has caused some pretty bothersome ice-ages across the northern globe.
